Visiting Fellowship in Canadian Government Laboratories
Position at the Science & Technology Branch of Environment Canada in Arctic Air Quality Research

The Science and Technology Branch of Environment Canada invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in the field of Arctic atmospheric pollution, Arctic boundary layer meteorology and transport modelling. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D in physics, atmospheric sciences or related fields, with a documented interest and expertise related to analyzing and evaluating meteorological, trace gas and aerosol data, conducting research on the effect of Arctic chemistry and physics in the transformation and deposition of pollutants, and designing, planning and executing field experiments. Duties will consist of analyzing existing data sets, conducting new field work, and interacting with colleagues internationally in the writing of papers for submission to peer reviewed journals.

Applications will be accepted immediately. The position will open in July 2012 and is available for three years pending annual review and availability of funds.

The fellowship is a Visiting Fellowship in Canadian Government Laboratories. This program provides promising young scientists and engineers with the opportunity to work with research groups in Canadian government laboratories and research institutions. Fellowships are awarded for one year with the possibility of renewal for a second and third year, at the discretion of the government department concerned. The salary range is $47,234 to $58,650 CDN per year depending on qualifications. The location of this fellowship is Toronto, Canada, with the Science and Technology Branch of Environment Canada.

Graduate Student Opportunities in Canada's most Northerly National Park

I am looking for highly motivated, creative and intellectual ecology and environmental science graduate students to conduct climate change research in Quttinirpaaq National Park (QNP) on northern Ellesmere Island, Nunavut, Canada. My research program focuses on how accelerated climate change in polar regions is altering terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem productivity, greenhouse gas (CO2, CH4, N2O) emissions from landscapes, water quality, and contaminant loadings and biomagnification.
