NSERC CREATE Training Program in Arctic Atmospheric Science
2013 Summer School in Arctic Atmospheric Science

We are pleased to announce our third Summer School addressing the broad theme of Arctic Atmospheric Science, offered from July 15 to 19, 2013 in Alliston, Ontario. The Summer School is intended for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows working in the field, with some places available for CREATE undergraduate summer interns. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from experienced researchers in a small and comfortable setting. In addition to classroom lectures, students will partake in an interactive professional development workshop; engage in a diverse career panel discussion; develop strategies for linking scientific knowledge to public engagement, education and outreach; and present their own research during a poster session.

NSERC CREATE Training Program in Arctic Atmospheric Science
Graduate Student Opportunities: September 2013

The NSERC CREATE Training Program in Arctic Atmospheric Science is a six-year project, begun in 2010 and supported by NSERC's Collaborative Research and Training Experience Program. Our Program takes advantage of the unique capabilities of the Polar Environment Atmospheric Research Laboratory (PEARL), which is run by the Canadian Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Change (CANDAC) and located at Eureka, Nunavut in the High Arctic. The goal of our Training Program is to significantly enhance the educational opportunities available to young researchers interested in polar, atmospheric, and climate sciences, enabling them to build collaborations and networks, and to develop scientific, technical, communications, and organizational skills.

We are now recruiting students for Graduate Studies, and have projects and stipends available for September 2013. Students interested in pursuing a graduate degree involving Arctic atmospheric science are invited to contact the CREATE Investigator with whom they wish to study. When a potential supervisor has been identified, students should apply to the relevant university and department, and inform the CREATE Training Program Director of their application.
