Arctic Climate Change Youth Forum (ACCYF)
Every two years, Schools on Board co-hosts a youth forum that coincides with an international science meeting or conference. This one-day event includes interactive presentations and workshops delivered by scientists and researchers introducing secondary high school students and their teachers to Arctic climate change research. In addition to science, the day will also include the northern perspective on climate change as well as political discussions on the role of science and Inuit knowledge in policy and decision-making.
2016 Arctic Climate Change Youth Forum - Elmwood High School, Winnipeg, MB
Elmwood High School, in partnership with Schools on Board, hosted the 2016 Arctic Climate Change Youth Forum (ACCYF) December 5, 2016. This biennial event is co-hosted with a high school and fully engages a planning committee that is made up of high school students and teachers. A fantastic team of Elmwood high school students met on a regular basis for a year to learn more about climate change in the Arctic and to plan the event, and finally host the event. This event was held in conjunction with ArcticNet's 12th Annual Scientific Meeting (5 to 9 December 2016) in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
