<title>Dr Joël Bêty, 2010 Researcher of the Year</title>
<description>20 Januray 2011 - ArcticNet Network Investigator Joël Bêty from Université du Québec à Rimouski, has been crowned "2010 Researcher of the Year" by Radio-Canada (CBC's French-language service). Earlier this year, Dr Bêty and Laura McKinnon, ArcticNet Ph.D. student, published the results of their research in Science, one of the world's most prestigious scientific journal.</description>

<title>Arctic search-and-rescue operations</title>
<description>7 Januray 2011 - In an attempt to demonstrate leadership in its Arctic foreign policy, Canada will soon sign a multilateral treaty defining responsibilities in search-and-rescue operations in the Arctic Ocean. ArcticNet Network Investigators Rob Huebert and Michael Byers say this is very significant but also that in order to fulfill its role, Canada will need to invest massively in its northern infrastructures.</description>

<title>Strong video for important project</title>
<description>1 Januray 2011 - Using footage shot during the ArcticNet research expeditions onboard the CCGS Amundsen, University of Victoria's Maeva Gauthier produced a video called "Before the Ice Melts". The video featured on a Radio Canada International-powered website shows marine biodiversity research in the Arctic for Census of Marine Life Canada.</description>
