ArcticNet - About us

Emily Choy
PhD student
Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Freshwater Institute

(Biography) I am a PhD student in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Manitoba working with Dr. Lisa Loseto (Fisheries and Oceans Canada) and Dr. James Roth in Winnipeg, Manitoba, studying the offshore diet and energetics of the Eastern Beaufort Sea beluga population. The main objective of my project is to study the potential energetic consequences of changes in prey dynamics to the Eastern Beaufort Sea belugas. My research is supported by a Natural Science and Research Engineering Council of Canada Post Graduate Scholarship. The overall objective of my research will be to provide a better description of diet for future comparisons and to assess the potential impacts of climate change on the Eastern Beaufort Sea beluga population. I am also the ArcticNet coordinator for Student Day and look forward to our meeting in Vancouver, December 2012!
