(Biography) Professor Laurie Chan is the holder of Dr. Donald Rix B.C. Leadership Chair in Aboriginal Environmental Health and Professor at the Community Health Science Program at the University of Northern British Columbia in Canada. He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. at the University of Hong Kong and Ph.D. from the University of London in Toxicology. Professor Chan?s work involves both basic and applied research in environmental toxicology and nutrition toxicology. He has conducted extensive studies on the risk and benefits of the consumption of traditional food in the Arctic. Prof. Chan has also served as an advisor for numerous aboriginal communities on environmental health issues.
