(Biography) Dominique Berteaux is a professor at the Université du Québec à Rimouski where he holds a Canada research chair in nortern ecosystem conservation. He is also director of the Groupe de recherche sur les environnements nordiques BORÉAS, member of the scientific committee of Polar Continental Shelf Program, and member of the Terrestrial Mammals Specialist Subcommittee of the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC). The research of Dr. Berteaux mainly concerns the effects of climate variability on wildlife from northern ecosystems, particularly mammals. He works mostly in the arctic tundra of Nunavut. His current interests deal with the effects of climate change on the geographic distribution and on the evolution of species.
